Zgonina & Rogers Navy and Coral Wedding

Wedding Photography Southern IllinoisKristen Zgonina and Stephen Rogers navy and coral wedding in Salem, IL was so beautiful! They were married in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Salem, Illinois on April 22nd 2017 and the reception was held at A Fair Barn. Working with these two was such a joy! They are both so full of love and Kristen’s smile can light up a whole room. It was such an honor to be their wedding photographers!

Rachel and Garren Wedding Photographers 2017-06-06_0021Lots of our couples decide to have an unplugged ceremony because of the overwhelming amount of cell phones & tablets that distract from their big day. This is a great way to give your guests permission to enjoy the day and not feel the need to get the best shot during your special moment. When you hire a professional photography team to capture all the beautiful details – you don’t have to worry about anything being missed!

Each client we have worked with in the last 7 years has been a blessing to our family and helped our business grow. I can’t believe how far we’ve come with this business! Every year we learn so much and gain new nuggets of knowledge to apply to future weddings. One great thing about owning your own business is that you’re able to constantly evolve and improve! My favorite part of shooting weddings is getting to experience the joy and uniqueness of each individual bride & groom. Kristen planned so many neat things that tied in their personalities and colors. I loved the colorful drinks in the mason jars that tied in the navy and coral wedding colors!!

Signature Drink for Weddings Navy and Coral Wedding Flowers 2017-06-06_0015I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to loving the leggings movement that has swept across the nation. Kristen and her bridesmaids were smart to wear leggings under their dresses on this cool, Spring day! What a fun way to add personality to their attire! I’m obsessed with cute and comfy leggings! Adding them to the wedding wardrobe is brilliant! The guys weren’t sporting the leggings – but they wanted to have some fun of their own.. hence the “please-don’t-take-him” shot. Ha!!

I’m so glad we also have video footage of these moments for them to remember forever!!!2017-06-06_0022 2017-06-06_0023 2017-06-06_0025 2017-06-06_0026 2017-06-06_0027 We can’t thank Kristen and Stephen enough for trusting us with their wedding day photos! Hays & Johnson

I’m in love with this Southern Illinois DIY backyard wedding for a multitude of reasons, but mainly because the bride is my BEST FRIEND and the groom is her soul mate!Southern Illinois Wedding First Look

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Joshua Johnson!!!  I cannot believe my best friend is MARRIED!  After twenty-three plus years of calling her Whitney Hays- I now have the name Whitney Johnson to wrap my head around!  These two are so near and dear to my heart and I’m so completely amazed at God’s hand in this.  They have finally found their perfect someone and I’m so indescribably happy for them!  This Southern Illinois DIY backyard wedding was filled with love, color, and craft.  Whitney’s eye for style never lets me down – as always she pieced together stunningly detailed wedding decor with a huge help from her family!

Just look at her BOUQUET!  Gorgeous wildflowers (some from Garren’s garden I might add!) wrapped perfectly together by her mother!  And I’m completely in love with the fact that the groom wore a bow tie!  It suits their style perfectly!

Before I go any further I have to thank the talented ladies from Emily Dobson Photography and Dawn Cox Photography for these amazing images!  When I hired a team for my best friend’s wedding – I couldn’t have asked for more reliable, thoughtful, and creative team!  They truly put my ‘photographer’ mind at ease knowing that every single detail was being covered.  It was NOT easy to put the camera down for the day & enjoy.. I guess that means I love my job when I WANT to work! 😉 But even more than that I wanted to be present and be there to soak up every second of Whitney & Joshua’s wedding day!

You might have guessed it… the father daughter dance is when Rachel ugly cries at almost every wedding, but especially when it’s her best friend and her dad!  They danced to Alan Jackson’s song “Drive” and it was so fitting.  Watching the father daughter dance at a wedding always makes me think of all the dads in my life.. my own daddy & my daughter’s daddy.  And of course – my dad was there to witness me ugly cry at this wedding, haha!!  He asked me why I was crying (though I would venture to say he already knew the answer) and I said because of you silly!  I get sentimental thinking about my childhood and learning to drive and dance with my own dad!

Bradley & Wernsman

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Wernsman!!!  Chelsea Bradley and Nick Wernsman were married on September 17th, 2016 at Calumet Street Christian Church and their gorgeous wedding reception was at the American Legion!  We were so thrilled to be a part of this Centralia, IL wedding!!  From the start of the day at Hollywood Hair Salon in Centralia, IL to the final dances at the American Legion – the day was a complete success!  We LOVE these two and wish them a lifetime of happiness!  Thank you guys for letting us be such a special part of your wedding day!

The couple opted for a first look and it’s one of our favorite parts of the wedding day!  A first look gives the bride and groom a chance to see each other without the hundreds of people watching and gives them both a chance to really soak up the moment! Nick was in complete awe of his bride – both during the first look and during the ceremony!  I always tell my brides – doing the first look does NOT take away from that special moment of walking down the aisle with dad!  Instead it gives you two moments to enjoy and celebrate!

Miller & Tolliver

Salem Illinois Wedding Photographer Amanda Miller and Patrick Tolliver tied the knot on June 4th, 2016 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church with a gorgeous reception following at A Fair Barn in Salem, IL. Every last detail of their day was completely planned and perfect! The classic black bridesmaid’s dresses and groomsmen’s black tuxes paired with the soft greens in the bouquets made for a stunning combo!

Ingersoll & Garrison

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Garrison who tied the knot May 28th, 2016!2016-07-02_0045

When Garren and I were contacted by Kassandra for the first time to discuss their wedding details she said to me that she felt connected by our personalities through our website. And while at the time I didn’t know much about her or Joseph – we learned over the course of their wedding festivities that there was good reason for that! These two were like family to us! So welcoming, warm, and sweet! It’s not everyday you get the pleasure of being so comfortable & at peace working with your couples. Between the silly jokes, giant donuts, and hugs – I also feel very connected to these sweet families!

Their wedding day was one of the most heartfelt and emotional weddings I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing! Every moment was sincere and loving – we were so thankful to have genuine emotion filling the frames of our cameras. Our main goal is not to stage and pose the perfect photos for a bride and groom, but to capture the true emotions and the unplanned laugher, tears, and moments. We LOVE being able to witness such joyful days!

A lot of times Garren and I find ourselves becoming overwhelmed with joy during a ceremony or.. like during this wedding – the daddy daughter dance. I’m a sucker for sweet songs especially ones about being a parent. (I blame it on my daughter Anna – she has ruined me for all time of being able to hold back tears!!) When Kassandra and her dad Ken Ingersoll started dancing – I lost it! And of course I look over at Garren hiding behind his camera trying not to cry, too! A daddy-daughter relationship is so precious.2016-07-02_00332016-07-02_00322016-07-02_0038

We want to thank the Ingersoll and Garrison families for being so kind and hospitable. It was an absolute pleasure working with everyone involved and we can’t thank you all enough!! These sweet families even insisted we take doggie bags of the delicious catering home! 2016-07-02_0044  Of course we had to have some fun with the bridal party!! Hah! Who doesn’t love being chased by a DINO!?

Cartwright & West

Allison and Logan West are such a down to earth and loving couple! We’ve known them for years through our church (First Christian Church in Salem, IL) and we were so blessed to be a part of their big day! Both of their families are very dear to us! From the intimate ceremony to the thoroughly thought out reception details – this wedding was a complete success! Being able to photograph all the moments & details was such a blast!

2016-07-06_00182016-07-06_0011 2016-07-06_0013
Allison West was nice enough to share their story with us and we are excited to share it with you all!
From the bride, “Logan and I first met in 2007 when I was a freshman in high school and he was a senior. I was 15 and he was 17. We were both in marching band in high school so we spent a lot of weekends together at band competitions. We also started playing in the same worship band at our home church. Our friendship really began to develop and soon developed into something more! We began dating on February 16, 2011. This was the spring semester of my senior year of high school and he was a junior in college. We both went off to college the fall of 2011 and we had a long distance relationship for three and a half years. Thankfully we spent summers together, but we spent most of those years four hours a part. We got engaged on November 7, 2014 in a restaurant that is close to our hometown. We thought we would go out for a nice dinner together since I was home that weekend from college. He had big plans that night. After he proposed, we went outside and he had another surprise. He had planned for both of our families to come celebrate with us afterwards! It was such a memorable evening, definitely a life changing night for both of us. We had so much fun planning out wedding, from the tiny details up to the big decisions of that day. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. So many memories were made that day and we are thankful for everyone that helped that day happen. We got married on July 25, 2015 in our home church. We loved being surrounded by our close friends and family. Our favorite part of the entire wedding day was when we had our “Special Moment.” We saw that some couples had a “First Look”, but we didn’t want to see one another so we made it our own. We chose to write letters to one another and we would exchange those letters on our wedding day. So when the time came, we walked to our special spot in the church and we stood beside a wall, not seeing one another, and we exchanged those letters. We laughed and we cried, but most of all, we were together. We were able to pray and thank our Lord Jesus Christ for bringing us together. That is a moment that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.”

Buckley & Hilmes

Beth and Dalton Hilmes are such a sweet, southern couple with big hearts. The two were married at the gorgeous new venue in Salem, IL appropriately named, “A Fair Barn” on June 27th 2015. They had a first look in the upper loft of the barn with twinkling lights as a background. Once the bride and groom shared their special moment together, the wedding day went into full swing! Their ceremony was inside the barn which was later transformed into a dinner and dessert buffet. The venue also features an outside patio where the reception was held. Guests enjoyed their meal at tables set with custom made table covers aligning a center area dedicated to dancing. The wood ceiling is lined with twinkling lights and a chandelier over top of the center of the dance floor creating a rustic and romantic feel. With the rustic barn and contemporary accent colors of mint and coral, it was a beautiful collaboration of details!
